Lynch and Limacher for Lovers

Allison Lynch is a Calgary-based actor, sound-designer/composer, musical director and singer. She has appeared on nearly all of Calgary’s major stages, including Vertigo Theatre, where you may have seen her in Sweeney Todd, In the Heat of the Night, or Double Indemnity. Allison was the recipient of three Betty Mitchell Awards for acting and one for composing, and has multiple nominations in the acting/ sound design and musical direction categories. She has also been nominated for musical direction and composing at the Vancouver theatre awards, and was the recent recipient of the Victoria Critic’s Choice award for theatre design for her music for The Ministry of Grace at The Belfry last February. As a singer Allison has performed at many local Alberta music venues including Ironwood, The Bella Concert Hall, the Rosza Centre, Lolita’s, the Calgary and Medicine Hat Jazz festivals, the Calgary Folk Music Festival and the National Music Centre, as well as guest performances with the Victoria, Winnipeg and Malaysian symphony orchestras. Her album Skin & Flame showcases a mix of her original songs and reimagined standards from the jazz songbook. In July of 2020 Allison released a music video for her original song Wish You Well, and is currently working on her second album to be released in 2021.

Mark Limacher is a Composer-Pianist currently based in Calgary, Canada. He is a graduate of New School University in New York City, and has studied privately with composers Linda Catlin Smith (Toronto) and Laurence Crane (London, UK). In 2013 he served as apprentice to composer Bunita Marcus in Brooklyn, NY.

He has composed extensively for piano, solo instruments, and chamber ensembles, being particularly drawn to small gestures, soft dynamics, and delicately constructed aural textures. He is a passionate advocate for all things Quiet-Slow-Boring, his personal sarcastic-provocational oeuvre.

As a pianist and keyboard player he has performed with groups and artists such as the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Theater Calgary, and the Calgary Creative Arts Ensemble. He is an active member of the Calgary music community, and also appears frequently at many smaller venues.

Other areas of interest include Italian opera, popular music of the early 20th Century, Psychoanalysis, and Mediterranean cooking. In 2016 he co-founded the NCRA award winning radio program Unprocessed with Laura Reid.
